The Hornby Workshop is really pleased to bring back Julian Fauth as our piano and keyboard instructor for 2015. While a few students will remember the tremendous contributions he made to our Workshop a few years ago, new keyboard and piano students will not want to miss Julian as an instructor, so get on that January registration in timely fashion.
Julian Fauth is a piano player, singer, song writer and arranger whose style is based on pre-war barrelhouse blues. He began listening to and playing blues around the age of six and had his first paid gigs at fourteen. In the late 1980s and early 1990s he often attended the performances and jam sessions of Mississippi-born blues guitarist and pianist Mel Brown. After studying philosophy for several years and obtaining a B.A. and M.A., Fauth returned to music in the mid-1990s and began performing around Toronto. He has since played in Canadian cities from coast to coast, in the United States, in Russia, Cuba, Germany and Belgium. He has won Junos and Maple Blues awards as a piano player, and as a singer and song writer.
After suffering a shoulder fracture in 2011 and a persistent lung infection leading to rib fractures in 2013, Julian is now completely recovered and…. he’s back as a two fisted barrelhouse piano man, who swings as well as he boogies! We are looking forward to his renewed energy that promises to be one of the 2015 Workshop highlights.
