Major: Piano Blues
In this class we will cover some of the basics of piano blues. We will cover common chord progressions for 8-bar, 12-bar, 16-bar and other forms and different ‘turnarounds’. We will try out a variety of rhythmic feels you might encounter (shuffle, swing, rhumba, 6/8 time etc.) We’ll also look at what to do with your left and right hands: diverse left-hand patterns, chording and comping, some right-hand licks. We will try our hand at soloing and learn how to play with others. We will also prepare a song to present at the student concert.
