
Ken Hamm is a blues and roots music artist with an international reputation. Since 1978 when he began touring solo, Ken has been one of Canada’s foremost interpreters of traditional roots and blues music. He has been nominated several times for Best Acoustic Act of the Year by the Toronto Blues Society and was also nominated three years running as Best Acoustic Blues Guitarist by the prestigious Guitar Player magazine. Emerging from early coffeehouses and Northern Ontario blues bands, to festivals and concert halls, Ken has been playing professionally since the late 1960’s. He has a reputation as a dynamic, moving performer, mixing hot slide fingerstyle acoustic blues with original songs based on his travels and encounters. He has played many major festivals, and has toured England, Scotland, and Europe, as well as throughout Canada. Ken has been recognized as a shining example of how talent and feeling can transcend time and region. He has been a teacher of guitar playing most of his life, and includes a busy schedule of workshops and private lessons as he tours. Ken is the 2010 recipient of the CBC Saturday Night Blues, Great Canadian Blues Award for a lifetime contribution to the Blues in Canada.
