Photo: Mike PearsonPaul Pigat took up guitar at the age of eleven, attended the Claude Watson School of the Arts, and graduated from the University of Toronto with a bachelor's degree in music theory and composition. He moved to Vancouver in 1994. Paul’s versatile style is deeply rooted in the playing of Les Paul, Charlie Christian and Link Wray. This accomplished guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter has a hard-earned reputation for delivering everything from hot rod rockabilly to foot stomping vintage country and western swing and classic jump blues. Paul has recorded, performed and toured with many artists including Neko Case, Michael Kaeshammer, Carolyn Mark, Taj Mahal, Mae Moore, Lee Aaron, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Joshua Redman, Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys, Aaron Neville, Jim Byrnes, Zubot & Dawson and others. Paul plays in the old tradition—slugging it out hot and heavy in the trenches of the live music scene. A stellar performance at Viva Las Vegas last April netted the guitar ace a Gretsch Guitar endorsement, and an invitation to join the distinguished Gretsch family roster as a touring clinician. Paul will be touring throughout BC, Alberta, Washington and California teaching guitar clinics and passing his knowledge on to aspiring guitarists.
