Hornby Island Blues Workshop

Keith Bennett - Blues Harmonica

The Hornby Blues Workshop has always featured instructors who live close to us in BC. We are all part of a music community and supporting local musicians is part of our vision. North Vancouver’s Keith Bennett is a veteran Blues harp player, singer and guitarist who has performed not only extensively in Canada but in many places around the globe often with guitar master David Sinclair. Whether blowing harp at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, or at the Vancouver’s Blues temple The Yale Hotel, Keith is up for the challenge and brings both art and spirit to his work. His musical instincts and instrument mastery have led him into hundreds of media contracts from Sesame Street to MacGyver while his original songs have been performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and featured on productions like the Chris Isaak Show. Such versatility and knowledge are a great fit for our teaching workshop and Keith has been here in the early day and again recently to offer blues harp students his expertise and ingenuity in managing the blues harp in an environment of singing and guitar. Always upbeat and dependably professional, Keith Bennett is a talented musician with much to teach. Students will take away significant skills from a basic comping on a 12-bar blues to bending notes and mic amping as well as some really cool information on the history of the blues harp itself. Whether you just want to sharpen your playing skills or learn how to augment your harp with voice or guitar this is the class for you.
